Sevoflurane
Indications/Uses
Induction & maintenance of general anesth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualized dosage. Maintenance of surgical anesth 0.5-3% w/ or w/o concomitant nitrous oxide.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sevoflurane or other halogenated agents. Suspected susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity to volatile halogenated anesth. Use for long procedures at low flow rate. Patients at risk for seizures. Renal insufficiency. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn 1-18 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Cardioresp depression, hypotension, malignant hyperthermia. Agitation, laryngospasm, acute renal failure, increased cough & salivation; shivering, nausea, vomiting during post-op period.
Drug Interactions
Benzodiazepines & opioids. Decreased anesth requirement w/ nitrous oxide. Increase intensity & duration of neuromuscular blockade induced by non-depolarizing muscle relaxants.
